Sign In & Account
How sign-in works in FOREPAID, why there’s no password, and where to manage your account and subscription.
How sign-in works
FOREPAID uses a passwordless 6-digit code sent to your email. You enter your email in the iOS app and tap Email Me a Code; we email you a 6-digit code. Type it into the app and you’re in. That’s the entire flow.
No password to remember. No password to forget. No password to get phished.
Why there’s no username or password
Passwords are the worst part of every app. People forget them, reuse them across services, write them on sticky notes, and get phished into typing them on fake sites. A one-time code by email sidesteps all of that — the email you receive is the proof that you control the account.
How it’s as secure as a password: only the person with access to your email can sign in. Each code works once and expires after a short window, so a code shared or forwarded later is useless.
First-time sign-up
- Open the FOREPAID iOS app and tap Get Started.
- Enter your email address.
- Tap Email Me a Code, then check your inbox for the 6-digit code (the email comes from hello@forepaid.app).
- Type the code into the app and you’re in.
- First time only: enter your name + handicap details (Profile setup). You’re ready to play.
Signing in on a new phone
Same flow as first-time. Open the app on the new phone, enter the same email, and type in the 6-digit code we send you. Your rounds, profile, friends, and subscription are all attached to your email — everything follows you to the new device.
Where to manage your account
Account management lives inside the FOREPAID iOS app, on the Profile screen:
- Name — what your foursome sees on scorecards and what Russ says when he calls your shots
- Email — the address tied to your account. Tap it to change; we confirm the switch by email before anything moves.
- Handicap — your playing number, used for net scoring (see the Handicaps page)
- Gender — used for tee defaults
No web account page yet: we don’t have a sign-in or profile page on this website. Everything account-related happens in the iOS app. A web account dashboard is on the roadmap for after the Android port ships.
Where to manage your subscription
Subscriptions are billed by Apple (the in-app purchase, per App Store rules), so they’re managed in your Apple Settings, not in the FOREPAID app. To cancel, change plan, or see your renewal date:
- Open Settings on your iPhone.
- Tap your name at the top (Apple ID).
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Tap FOREPAID — you’ll see your current plan, next renewal date, and the option to cancel or change.
This is the same flow as Netflix, Spotify, and every other iOS subscription — Apple owns the billing relationship for in-app purchases.
For everything else about pricing, the Founder rate, refunds, and what happens when you cancel, see Subscription & Account.
Troubleshooting
I didn’t get the code email
- Check your spam / junk folder — the first email from a new sender often lands there.
- The email comes from hello@forepaid.app. Add us to your contacts so future emails skip spam.
- Make sure you typed the email exactly — one typo and the code goes to the wrong inbox.
- Wait 60 seconds and tap Email Me a Code again for a fresh one.
- Still nothing? Email support@forepaid.app and we’ll dig in.
The code doesn’t work
- Codes expire quickly and each request invalidates the previous one — always type the code from the newest email.
- If it’s been more than a few minutes, tap Email Me a Code again and use the fresh code.
- Double-check for look-alike digits (0 vs 8, 1 vs 7) — it’s six numbers, no letters.
I changed my email address
Update it yourself in the app: Profile → Email. We send a confirmation to make sure the new address is really yours. Stuck? Email support@forepaid.app and we’ll sort it out.
Deleting your account
To permanently delete your FOREPAID account and all associated data:
- Open the iOS app → Profile → Delete Account.
- Confirm by typing your email.
- Your profile, rounds, scores, and personal data are erased within 30 days.
This cannot be undone. Past rounds you played with friends remain visible to them (the scorecard, who won what), but your profile fields are removed. If you have an active subscription, cancel it separately in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions — deleting your account does not cancel your Apple subscription.
