Troubleshooting
Fixes for the issues we see most often. If yours isn't here, write us at support@forepaid.app.
1. Sign-in problems
Symptom
The magic link email never arrived
- Wait 60 seconds — email can lag, especially on first send.
- Check your spam / junk folder for an email from noreply@mail.forepaid.app.
- Search your inbox for "FOREPAID" — some clients hide brand emails in a "Promotions" tab.
- Confirm the email address you typed is correct. Typos are the most common cause.
- On the sign-in screen, tap Send link again — the previous link may have expired, and resending always works.
- If the new link still doesn't arrive in 5 minutes, write to support@forepaid.app with the email address you're trying.
Symptom
Tapping the link opens Safari instead of the app
- Make sure the FOREPAID app is installed on the iPhone you're tapping the link from.
- If installed, force-quit Safari, open FOREPAID directly, and the sign-in should resume.
- Try copying the link from the email and pasting it into Safari's address bar — sometimes a fresh load reroutes to the app.
2. Russ audio not playing
Symptom
Russ is silent on Score Entry
- Check the speaker icon on the Score Entry toolbar — if it shows a slash, Russ is muted on your phone. Tap it once.
- Check your iPhone's volume rocker. Russ shares the media volume bar.
- Make sure your phone isn't on silent (the side switch) — Russ respects the system silent setting.
- If you're paired with car Bluetooth or AirPods, confirm the right output is selected from Control Center.
- If the round is in Play Solo mode and the host has Russ muted at the group level, you won't hear chirps regardless of your own setting.
Symptom
Russ played the wrong line, or repeated himself
Russ chirps based on the score and the par for each hole. The most common cause of a "weird" line is a score correction that re-triggered him after you edited a hole. For the full breakdown, see "Why Russ said that".
3. Course not found
Symptom
My home course isn't in the search results
- Try searching by the course's shorter name ("Hiawatha" instead of "Theodore Wirth Hiawatha Golf Club").
- Try the city in the search ("Edina" or "Prior Lake").
- If still not found, tap the Request this course button in the picker. It opens an email to support with the course pre-filled — just hit Send. We'll add it within a day or two.
4. Push notifications not arriving
Symptom
A friend invited me to a round, but I got no notification
- Open iOS Settings → Notifications → FOREPAID and confirm "Allow Notifications" is on.
- Check "Sounds" and "Banners" — both need to be on for you to see and hear pushes.
- Open FOREPAID — the invite will be waiting on the home screen even if the push didn't fire.
- If you have Focus modes (Do Not Disturb, Work, etc.) on, check whether FOREPAID is allowed to break through the current Focus.
5. Scores or invites not syncing
Symptom
A score I entered doesn't show on my friend's phone
- Confirm you have signal (cell or Wi-Fi). Sync is real-time only when you're online.
- Pull down on the Score Entry screen to force a refresh.
- If your friend is on a different carrier with weak coverage, the lag is on their side — wait 30 seconds.
- If the score still doesn't show after both phones have good signal, force-quit the app and reopen it on the phone that's missing the data.
6. Conflict warning won't clear
Symptom
A yellow ⚠️ on a score cell stays after I edited the value
The conflict marker only clears when the score-owner (the player whose score it is) explicitly resolves it. Editing the value isn't enough — you have to tap the ⚠️ to open the resolution sheet and tap Confirm or Revert.
If you're not the score-owner, you can't resolve it — only they can. Hand them the phone or wait for them to do it on theirs.
7. GPS distances missing or wrong
Symptom
The GPS pill is greyed out
Not every course has GPS geometry in our database yet. If you don't see a GPS button on the Scorecard for a particular course, that course doesn't have geometry — distances fall back to the static yardages on the scorecard.
If your course should have GPS but doesn't, email support@forepaid.app with the course name and we'll prioritize the data backfill.
Symptom
Distances jump around or look wrong
- Open iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → FOREPAID and set it to "While Using" or "Always."
- Make sure you're outdoors with a clear view of the sky — GPS struggles under tree cover or near buildings.
- Wait 10-15 seconds after opening the GPS view for the location to settle.
8. App crashes or freezes
Symptom
The app crashes on launch or hangs mid-round
- Force-quit the app (swipe up from the bottom of the screen and flick FOREPAID off the top).
- Reopen the app. The round picks up where you left off — every score is saved as you enter it.
- If it crashes again immediately, restart your iPhone.
- Check the App Store for an update — TestFlight builds in particular ship fast.
- If it still crashes, email support@forepaid.app with your iPhone model, your iOS version, and the build number from Profile → About.
9. When nothing above works

support@forepaid.app with what you tried, what your iPhone is doing, and a screenshot if you can grab one. Include the round's share link (
forepaid.app/r/<id>) if the issue is round-related — we can look at the exact state of your data from that URL. We answer every message within a day.
